We have broken ground and our buildings are now under construction.
Designed in partnership with the award-winning firm Education Design International (EDI), our biophilic campus supports joyful, collaborative, nature-immersed learning in state-of-the art facilities. Sustainability is embedded throughout the campus, with solar capture, rainwater harvesting, and eco-friendly construction materials. We model the responsible practices we encourage in our students. Nature and harmony are central to the school’s ethos, with green spaces integrated throughout, offering daily opportunities to connect with Kenya’s natural heritage.
Our campus is seated in the heart of Gigiri, Nairobi, nestled among the Acacia and Jacaranda, abutting water and is easily accessible by car but feels peaceful and secluded from the bustle of city life. All our facilities have been designed without compromise to reflect our approaches to learning. Our guiding design principles can be found among the world’s leading educational architects and include Neuroarchitecture, Biophilic Design, Salutogenic Design, Outdoor Learning, Self Determination Theory, and Choice Architecture. Sankoré is designed to promote student health and well-being while maintaining access to challenging and thought provoking academic work. There is an indestructible relationship between what we are learning and where we are learning.
A considered relationship with nature
All classrooms provide intentional connections and transitions to outdoor space. We work in concert with Kenya’s temperate climate and storied relationship with nature to ensure students lean in a space and with materials that are considered, authentic, and speak to our native Kenya. Our many free-flowing flexible spaces allow for learning to take place in a space that specifically supports the goals of instruction, fostering collaboration, support, and dialogue.
