About Sankoré International School

All aspects of Sankoré have been designed with interconnectedness in mind – the relationship between what we’re learning, how we’re learning, where we’re learning, and with whom we’re learning have all been meticulously considered and built with relentless precision. Our partnerships with leading global institutions and progressive designers at Education Design International, Common Ground Collaborative, and countless others have produced an institution for leading and innovation like nowhere else in the world.

Overview

What’s in a name?

Sankoré was one of the world’s great medieval universities—a beacon of African scholarship, spirituality, and global exchange at the heart of Timbuktu.

We chose this name in honor of that legacy. Sankoré International School is a modern expression of that same spirit: a place where ideas, cultures, and people meet, where knowledge is shared in community, and where learning is always in service of a more just and joyful world.

A Mosaic of Belonging

Our logo is a mosaic circle that symbolizes the continuous nature of learning and the diversity of our community.

It is inspired by Maasai necklaces, whose colors represent unity, bravery, peace, and nature. Like those necklaces, our school is formed from many individual pieces: families, staff, learners, and partners. We are woven together into something strong and beautiful.
